The Canadian Government generally recognizes a legal ceremony in the destination. It requires your documents to be translated from your language to that of the country you choose to get married in.

A symbolic ceremony is not a legal union. Many couples opt for a symbolic ceremony as the most straightforward option, but they must legally marry in Canada before the Destination Wedding. This is usually done with a justice of the peace or at a courthouse.
